My Testimony as a Leader
By Raymond M. Ordanza Jr.
When I accepted Christ into my life, I wasn’t changed instantly. I had doubts about whether He was truly working in me. But I chose to keep trusting Him and to hold on to the assurance He had given me.
In my journey as a follower of Christ, one of the biggest things that helped me grow in faith was spending personal time in conversation with Him, and having fellowship with my brothers and sisters in Christ.
My campus chapter gave me a desire to share the Gospel inside the campus. To fulfill that desire, I knew I had to know Christ more deeply so I wouldn't mislead those I talked to. Eventually, I became accustomed to seeking Him and discovering the truth for myself. That pursuit has strengthened my faith and helped me grow spiritually.
The church has also played a big role in helping me better understand God’s Word. There were times during my personal devotion when I couldn’t grasp the message clearly, but through the church, my understanding became clearer. I learned how to rightly understand and apply His Word, and that helped me grow even more in faith.
What inspired me to become a Small Group (SG) or Bible Study (BS) leader was first and foremost to bring glory to the Lord—to know Him and make Him known. Secondly, I saw the deep need for Christ in our campus. And third, I wanted my fellow students to know and believe in Him.
Before becoming a leader, I had doubts. I thought, “What if I become a leader, but I’m not living according to God’s will? What if I end up misleading others—showing them it’s okay to believe in Christ but live however you want?” That conviction made me realize the importance of living rightly before God.
By His grace, the Lord worked in me. I began to walk more faithfully, and that gave me the confidence to lead, because others could now see Christ in how I live. God gave me the desire to lead, and I responded to that desire—and He guided me through it.
As I lead my fellow students, I feel refreshed. It’s a great blessing that has contributed to my spiritual growth. But we’ve faced challenges too—particularly with finding time to meet. Because we often don’t have the same free time, we decided to meet during lunch breaks instead of after classes. We made the effort, and God honored it.
Leadership has helped me stay focused on the Lord. It brings me so much joy to serve Him and to live according to His will. I pray that others will see the Lord in my life.
Praise the Lord for His guidance!
